Optional excursions
Lanzarote grand island tour
1 / 10
Successive volcanic eruptions in the 18th and 19th centuries gave Lanzarote its famously lunar-like terrain and in 1993 the entire island was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. This excursion aims to get a closer look at the extraordinary volcanic landscapes and exceptional ecosystems that make this one of the most surprising and beautiful of all the Canary Islands.
Cesar Manrique's route
1 / 10
Explore the legacy left to Lanzarote by the great César Manrique including the extraordinary César Manrique Foundation, once the artist’s home, which is constructed on (and sometimes inside) lava beds and volcanic ‘bubbles’ and his farmhouse in Haria surrounded by peaceful palm groves. Jameos del Agua, a unique arts centre created inside a basalt volcanic tunnel, and his iconic last work, the Jardin de Cactus, are other highlights.
Submarine safari
1 / 10
This is your chance to get up close and personal with life under the sea off the coast of Lanzarote. You’ll have front-row seats in a real, state of the art ‘Yellow submarine’, complete with your own viewing porthole and TV monitor for alternative views of the spectacular marine life.
Catamaran cruise
1 / 10
Pack your best sunglasses and finest swim things for this memorable day on a chic catamaran. After boarding the luxury Catlanza in Puerto Calero, you can stretch out and relax on deck before dropping anchor for a spot of swimming or snorkelling in the crystal-clear sea. You can even jump on a jet ski for a session with a professional instructor if you wish. All equipment is provided.
The Music Hall Tavern Show
1 / 10
Experience something of a Canary Island institution: a night at Lanzarote’s Music Hall Tavern with Mrs T and her glamorous cast. The MHT Show has been entertaining audiences for 20 years with its comedy variety show featuring parodies of popular culture such as Grease, the Spice Girls and even Elsa from Disney’s Frozen.
Full South Tour FD
1 / 10
This full day excursion showcases Lanzarote’s volcanic landscapes situated in the south of the island. Starting from Costa Teguise we’ll follow the coast road from Puerto Calero to Playa Blanca. From here we’ll head inland to the white-washed village of Uga before continuing towards Timanfaya National Park via the Fire Mountains. After enjoying a break for photos and maybe an optional camel ride (not included), we’ll watch some geothermal demonstrations at Hilario’s Plateau and learn more about the island’s devastating eruptions. Following the famous Volcano Route, we’ll witness the amazing Lava Coast and enjoy a panoramic view across the El Janubio salt mines before finishing the morning with lunch and a trip to El Golfo – The Green Lagoon. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the La Geria wine region and pop into a typical vineyard for an included tasting session and to buy some souvenirs to take back home.
Short North Tour
1 / 10
This morning we’ll take a short, 30-minute, drive to the town of Teguise, the former capital of Lanzarote. After enjoying the views of the white-washed stone church and surrounding countryside, we’ll head to HarÃa, famed for its picturesque palm grove, known as ‘The Valley of a Thousand Palms’. Continuing our journey north, we’ll visit the villages of Máguez and Ye en route to a panoramic vista point overlooking the Mirador del RÃo and the untouched island of La Graciosa. From here, we’ll skirt the conical-shaped Corona Volcano and drive through the fertile MalpaÃs de la Corona landscape towards the Jameos del Agua. This subterranean saline lake and volcanic tunnel complex is out of this world and provides the perfect prelude to a tour of La Tunera cacti plantation before we return to the hotel.
Short South Tour
1 / 10
Starting from our hotel, we’ll embark on a half day tour of the volcanic south of the island. Passing through the pretty, white-washed village of Uga, we’ll make our way into the red sand desert landscapes of Timanfaya National Park. This is where we’ll witness examples of geothermal activity and learn more about Lanzarote’s volcanic past at the coastal town of El Golfo. After exiting the ‘Volcanoes Route’ we’ll visit one of the island’s most important wine-growing regions, La Geria, and enjoy a guided tasting session at one of the local wineries. With some well-chosen souvenirs secreted onboard the bus, we’ll return to the hotel for a relaxing afternoon by the pool.
Teguise Market & The Manrique Foundation
1 / 10
Today we’ll enjoy a trip to the charming town of Teguise, which was once the capital of Lanzarote. It’s a great opportunity to see some more of the island and to visit the Sunday street market that has a large variety of vendors selling local crafts, handmade pottery, artisan cheese, and local wine. On arrival, you’re free to explore independently and maybe catch a live folk group performance in the Pueblo Marinero (main square). After free time, we’ll visit the Casa Museo Palacio SpÃnola that’s dedicated to exhibiting the work of Lanzarote-born artist and sculptor, César Manrique. This was Manrique’s former residence and now provides an avant-garde glimpse at his, and other artists’, work from the 1970’s. Once this morning’s tour is over, we’ll return to the hotel around 1.30pm.
Wine Tour
1 / 10
This relaxed excursion takes us to the southwest of the island where we’ll discover the desert-like landscapes of Timanfaya National Park and visit some of the unique volcanic vineyards. It’s a wonderful opportunity to find out how farmers work the land and the processes and techniques that are used to produce wine to a high standard. Along the way, we’ll see some amazing volcanic backdrops as well as being able to have a guided wine tasting session and a tour of the vineyards. There will also be a chance to buy a bottle or two of the local wine before we head back to the hotel in time for lunch.
