The long flat promenade at the front of the hotel follows the pebble beach towards a headland, which divides and the bay and the centre of Almuñécar, which is just under one mile away. Here, you can explore the maze of narrow streets and attractive plazas in the Old Town, characterised by traditional Andalusian architecture. Historic highlights include the hilltop San Miguel Castle and Roman fish salting factory ruins. The area is also renowned for its tapas bars. The drive to/from the airport takes approximately 50 minutes
Out and about
There is an included weekly return shuttle service to Nerja, 13 miles away, or Granada, 50 miles away.
Nerja
The attractive town of Nerja boasts sandy beaches, a complex of caves with prehistoric paintings, the cliff-top Balcony of Europe offering panoramic views, and a historic, pedestrianised centre with shops and restaurants.
Granada
Among the city’s most well-known sights are the UNESCO-listed Alhambra palace, built between 1232 and 1492, and the monumental Generalife gardens.
