Holidays to Canada

Epic sights, cosmopolitan cities

The world’s second-largest country, Canada offers up some of the most diverse and beautiful scenery on the planet. From the Rocky Mountain peaks and sprawling rainforest of British Colombia in the west, to the pink-sand beaches that fringe Prince Edward Island in the east, and Niagara Falls in the south, there’s no shortage of places to explore.

There are 47 national parks and more than 150,000 miles of coastline here, so it’s no surprise that many visitors come to enjoy the Great Outdoors. Hiking, walking, mountain-biking, boating – all are popular Canadian pastimes, and a great way to discover the country’s spectacular wildlife.

If you can tear yourself away from the nature spots, there’s lots more to see. Futuristic Toronto, the country’s largest metropolis, attracts the most visitors – notably for famous landmarks like the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame, and Art Gallery of Ontario. The pretty capital, Ottawa, is the best place to swot up on the country’s history, thanks to its numerous museums. Over in the Quebec province, meanwhile, are tell-tale signs of its origins as a French colony. In Quebec City and Montreal, you can people-watch from Parisian-style bistros as horse-drawn carriages clip-clop past.

Discover Canada with Saga and you’ll have countless ways to explore – choose from escorted and independent tours, self-drive road trips, rail adventures and city breaks.

Where to begin?! Canada offers up all the wild beauty of the Rocky Mountains, and all the cultured sophisticated of cities like Quebec and Montreal. And who could forget one of Canada and North America’s biggest hitting attractions - Niagara Falls - which draws millions of visitors every year.

Rocky Mountaineer

There are lots of thrilling travel experiences out there, but few give you the chance to see bald eagles, Canadian moose and grizzly bear in the wild, at the same time as enjoying first-class meals and complimentary drinks from a rotating, reclining chair. Welcome aboard Rocky Mountaineer, one of the most famous travel experiences in the world.

Cosmopolitan Canada

If the country is rugged, Canada’s cities are refined, weaving Canadian, American and European cultures into one cosmopolitan and colourful scene. From French-speaking Quebec to the pioneering town of Jasper in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Canada is proud of its heritage, which is showcased in festivals and carnivals throughout the year.

Niagara Falls

It may not be the biggest waterfall in the world, but it’s probably the most famous. Niagara Falls is familiar even to those who have never seen it in the raw – a giant cascade thundering almost 200-feet into the basin below. It’s a powerful sight, whether you gaze at it from one of the many walking trails and viewing platforms or don a poncho to cruise up close by boat.

What’s the best time of year to visit Canada?

Canada is particularly beautiful in the autumn, from September to November, when the heat of high summer has passed, and the trees and forests turn autumnal shades of red, copper and gold.
