The city of Palm Springs is situated in the Sonoran Desert in southern California, around a two-hour drive east of Los Angeles. It’s a popular vacation hot spot with spa hotels, golf courses and hot springs resorts located in and around the city limits.
Aside from the allure of air-conditioned shopping on Palm Canyon Drive, the natural environment surrounding Palm Springs is quite something else. Joshua Tree National Park, especially, boasts some formidable desert scenes. Head to Hidden Valley for hiking trails or Keys View lookout point for views over the San Andreas Fault and Coachella Valley.
