Orlando is in the middle of Florida, bordered by the Atlantic to the east and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. It’s one of America’s southernmost cities and has become world-famous as the home of Walt Disney World® and Universal Orlando Resort.
Thanks to the location you’re just an hour and a half drive from Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Centre, and to the west, the white sand beaches and seaside villages around Tampa Bay. Orlando makes for a popular stop-over on self-drive tours of Florida and the Gulf Coast.
The city itself has more than its fair share of pristine golf courses as well as untold opportunities to shop until you drop at multi-storey malls and outlet stores.
There are also several scenic rivers and waterways that can be accessed by airboat or on a sunset cruise. You can also tour the swamps, marshes and grasslands of Giraffe Ranch or learn about the natural environment of crocodiles and alligators at Gatorland.
From the skyscrapers shining over Lake Eola Park to the cultural creativity spinning from the city’s art museums and performing arts centres – there’s much more to Orlando than may at first meet the eye.
