Hand-Picked Hotel

One of Florida’s most iconic resorts, with a distinctive ‘country club’ atmosphere

Originally opened in 1926, this much-loved resort has benefited from an extensive programme of renovations, being reborn as a luxury resort with every facility you could ever want. Its five distinctive properties range from the historic ‘Cloister’ building, still the beating heart of the resort to this day, through the Tower, Bungalows, the adults-only Yacht Club and the sleek and stylish Beach Club. The resort’s eight restaurants offer everything from market-fresh sushi at the Beach Club Lounge to sizzling steaks at the Flamingo Grill, and from handmade pasta at Principessa Ristorante to all-American classics at Mulligans.

Those with an active interest in sports and fitness are well catered for at The Boca Raton, with bike rentals, yoga, gym, a full range of watersports and no fewer than 16 tennis courts. Golfers, in particular, will relish the opportunity to tee off on the exceptional 18-hole championship golf course, complete with its signature island green finishing hole, a driving range, pro shop and an all-important clubhouse.

Anyone more interested in embarking on a wellness journey might prefer the world-class Spa Palmera, where the architecture and courtyard gardens are inspired by the Alhambra Palace. In its 44 treatment rooms you can enjoy a range of therapies designed to revitalise the body, face and mind, before relaxing in a range of saunas, steam rooms and ritual baths.

Local Area

The Boca Raton has an enviable location on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, midway between the exclusive resorts of Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, and about 35 minutes’ drive north of Fort Lauderdale Airport or an hour’s drive from Miami Airport.

The five parts of the resort straddle either side of Lake Boca Raton, an inlet from the sea which forms part of Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway. As the name suggests, the Beach Club sits on the ocean-facing side of the lake, while the other four sections – the Cloister, Yacht Club, Tower and Bungalows, sit on the harbour side of the lake.

The town of Boca Raton – or simply ‘Boca’ to the locals – is focused around Mizner Park, the downtown shopping, dining and entertainment district. More upscale shopping can be enjoyed at Town Center, while a couple of offbeat attractions that might pique your interest would be the incredible collection of Broadway costumes at the Wick Museum, or admiring the wildlife while strolling the boardwalks at Daggerwing Nature Center
