Standing on a hillside overlooking unspoiled Spanish countryside, this beautiful 16th-century building exudes Spanish character and history. It was first a church, then a convent, before it was restored in 2009 and converted into a luxury hotel. Original features remain, including beautiful arches, frescoed walls and religious paintings, alongside modern touches like air-conditioning, a wellness centre and an indoor swimming pool. Outside, the grounds are dotted with fruit and olive trees, vegetable plots, chickens and even a resident donkey.

Local Area

Antequera, the closest town, is a beautiful place whose opulent Spanish baroque style has led to it being called the ‘Florence of Andalusia’. Take a taxi - it’s about 15 minutes away - or head off and explore the surrounding Spanish countryside on one of the many walking trails. The area is also well-known for its three megalithic tombs. Known as the Antequera Dolmens and listed UNESCO World Heritage sites, they date back around 5,500 years.

Granada and Alhambra Palace

1/2

Please note this excursion is pre bookable and needs to be booked with the agent 45 days prior to departure - please call for details. Today the magnificent capital of the ancient Nasrid Kingdom - the city of Granada – awaits. With fascinating insights from your local guide, you’ll visit the Alhambra, a monument remarkable for its beauty. Consisting of an ensemble of ancient palaces, gardens and fortress (alcazaba), it was initially conceived to house the Emir and the court of the Nasrid Kingdom, and later became a Castilian royal residence. Its unusual beauty lies not only in the interiors of the Nasrid Palaces, which features intricate, colourful decorations that are a highlight of Andalusian art, but also the way in which it blends into the natural elements of its location and commands awe-inspiring views over Granada and the Sierra Nevada. You’ll also find the Museum of the Alhambra – the city's main fine art gallery – and a former convent that has been converted into a Parador hotel. After, you’ll have some free time before heading back to the hotel – perhaps set out to discover exactly why Granada is world famous for its tapas!
