Stay at the Castle of the Rockies at Fairmont Banff Springs
Fairmont Banff Springs is a large, elegant hotel that is sometimes known as ‘The Castle of the Rockies’. With 745 rooms, it makes the perfect luxurious base from which to explore Banff’s pretty streets and upscale restaurants, and the mountain wilderness beyond.
There’s no shortage of things to do or places to relax in on-site – this is a hotel with resort-style facilities. On the Fairmont Banff Springs golf course, you can take a swing with incredible mountain views at every turn. In the spa, you’ll find indoor and outdoor mineral pools – again, with amazing views. There’s also a fitness centre running exercise classes, and an indoor pool with its own bar.
When it comes to food, you’ll have a choice of six restaurants, with an emphasis on local flavours and fresh ingredients. The 1888 Chop House has a fantastic traditional menu and award-winning wine list, while Waldhaus is a cottage in the woods with apres-ski vibes and alpine cuisine.

Local Area
Banff is the heart of the Canadian Rockies – as much spiritually as physically. The town is a tourist hub for the national park that surrounds it (founded in the 1880s, and one of the oldest national parks in the world).
It is a busy place with museums, restaurants and bars, with a real cosmopolitan feel in its centre. The Fairmont Banff Springs lies a short walk away from the heart of the town, giving you the benefits of its lively atmosphere without spoiling the peace.
Banff offers just about any outdoor activity you could imagine. There are multiple hiking trails, canyons and rivers to explore, and canoeing at nearby Lake Louise. In winter, of course, there is skiing. And no trip to Banff would be complete without a trip on the gondola to see the awe-inspiring views from the top of Sulphur Mountain.
