Self-drive Holidays

Yukon & Alaska Explorer

Two-week self-drive adventure through the gold-rush era towns and national parks of Alaska and the Yukon.

Available from late May until the end of August, this road trip is ideal for independent travellers looking to explore the northwestern reaches of North America. You’re in charge as you drive this sensibly paced self-drive route surrounded by gold rush-era history, mountain peaks and pine forests. It’s a chance to have impromptu adventures and enjoy a taste of remote life in rural North America. As part of the trip, you’ll be treated to an incredible one-hour scenic flight over the vast glacial parklands of Kluane National Park and embark on an included train trip on the legendary White Pass & Yukon Railway. With plenty of free time and days at leisure, you can make the most of hiking, cycling or canoeing and enjoy the region’s diners, food trucks and cosy cafés. As the driving conditions in the Yukon and Alaska can be slightly more rustic than other areas of North America, we recommend booking an all-wheel drive vehicle. This gives you the comfort and confidence to embark on off-the-beaten track adventures and head out on high-altitude highways and across magnificent mountain passes.
