Bay Village Tropical Retreat
Tropical hideaway with swimming pools and Balinese restaurant close to the Esplanade.
The Bay Village Tropical Retreat appears like an oasis from the midst of the city centre. It’s such a convenient location and close to the coast as well as the Esplanade Waterfront.
Step inside the resort and you’ll find a good choice of spacious rooms and studio apartments looking out over well-maintained tropical gardens. There are also two outdoor swimming pools, a sun lounging patio, and opportunities to dine alfresco under the palms.
The Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant continues the sunshine vibes with authentic dishes served overlooking the pool or inside the Indonesian style dining room. Here’s where you’ll also find the bar serving tropical cocktails to be supped poolside or on the outdoor terrace.
With the Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda Scenic Railway, just moments away, the Bay Village Tropical Retreat is the perfect place to rest, relax and make the most of Cairns.

Local Area
The city of Cairns is located in Far North Queensland on Australia’s tropical northeast coast. It’s commonly considered as the most affordable place to visit if you’re looking to experience the Great Barrier Reef. It takes just 30mins by boat to reach the outlying coral.
Thanks to the tropical climate, this part of Queensland also boasts the world’s oldest rainforests – predating the Amazon by 10 million years. There’s a scenic heritage train line that leads to Kuranda from the city centre. From here you can take the Skyrail gondola high above the rainforest canopy that lies within Barron Gorge National Park.
If you’re staying in central Cairns, you’ll want to be based close to the Esplanade Waterfront. This is where you’ll find a protected saltwater lagoon and several grassy BBQ parks spread along the 2.5km coastal boardwalk. It’s just a 15min stroll into the city centre from the prom and only a 10min drive from the airport.
