Local Area
Kangaroo Island is situated off the South Australia mainland just over 110kms southwest of Adelaide. It’s a wonderfully wild and untouched environment where kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas can all be seen without too much trouble.
Getting there is fairly straightforward. You can fly from Adelaide to Kingscote Airport or take the car ferry to Penneshaw. On arrival you’ve got the chance to self-drive or book a shared or private transfer through your accommodation. It’s roughly an hour’s drive from the airport to Sea Dragon and about 30mins’ drive from the ferry terminal.
As Kangaroo Island is approximately 145kms east to west and 55kms north to south, there’s plenty to explore. The east coast, especially, is absolutely stunning with Pink Bay beaches and Cape Willoughby Lighthouse ensuring you’ll never be stuck for inspiration.
