Silky Oaks Lodge
Hand-Picked Hotel
If you’re seeking seclusion, look no further – Silky Oaks Lodge is a luxury hideaway in the world’s oldest living rainforest.
If you’ve always dreamed of holing up in a cabin hideaway in the middle of the jungle, you’ll find your perfect match in Silky Oaks Lodge. This clutch of 40 lodges and treehouses is nestled deep in the ancient Daintree Rainforest, giving guests the ultimate back-to-nature experience.
That’s not to say you’ll be roughing it here, though – far from it. Silky Oaks reopened in late 2021 following a multi-million-dollar refurbishment, and pairs luxury accommodation with first-class facilities.
Meals are served in the open-air Treehouse Restaurant, a fine dining set-up with a soundtrack provided by the gently flowing Mossman River. The hotel has a plant-to-plate philosophy, with lots of ingredients being grown onsite in the kitchen garden. Dishes include coconut-infused breakfast waffles and tempura fish straight from the Great Barrier Reef.
The Healing Waters Spa, meanwhile, can be found in the gardens, and is the ultimate in peace and tranquillity. The treatment menu ticks off purifying mud baths, river stone massage and crystal and sound therapies.

Local Area
The Daintree is the world’s oldest living rainforest – experts estimate that it’s been growing for more than 180 million years. It’s also the home of one of the world’s oldest cultures. The Indigenous Kuku Yalanji people have settled here for around 50,000 years.
The Daintree ecosystem is made up of ancient plants, gushing waterways and hundreds of species of birds, mammals, and reptiles. And there are countless ways to explore it – on foot, via four-wheel safari, or by helicopter for a spectacular view above the canopy.
Daintree is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in Tropical North Queensland, which stretches along Australia’s northeast coast for 450 kilometres, stopping at the white-sand beaches that overlook the Great Barrier Reef. You can strap on a snorkel to discover the wonders of the latter from the nearby seaside town of Port Douglas.
