Local Area
The city of Moab is located in east Utah, relatively close to the border with Colorado. It’s considered an entrance to Arches and Canyonlands national parks which sit side-by-side overlooking the Green and Colorado rivers.
These ancient red rock landscapes are amongst the most captivating and surreal in the whole of the US. They provide a vast outdoor adventure playground for hikers, white water rafters and self-drive holiday makers looking for scenic circulars – the Island in the Sky, in particular, is well worth the hire car costs alone. If you don't fancy driving, how about getting here on a fabulous two-day train ride from Denver aboard the legendary Rocky Mountaineer?
From incredible natural archways and Native American rock art to fin-like walls and beautiful bridges, this is where you surround yourself with some seriously impressive sandstone sculptures.
If you’re staying in the area, the city of Moab makes for an enjoyable change of scene. There’s an excellent information centre alongside several microbreweries, regional restaurants and boutique art galleries.
