Local Area
Cape Cod’s sand fringed peninsula curls into the Atlantic from mainland Massachusetts in northeast America. It’s under 2hrs’ drive from Boston and just over an hour’s drive from Rhode Island, if you’re staying in the coastal town of Falmouth. It’s the perfect place to head to if you’re self-driving around the highlights of New England.
The lighthouses and beautiful beaches of Martha’s Vineyard are just 30mins away by ferry from Falmouth. Or if you’re looking to take a day trip to Nantucket, there are regular ferries from Hyannis harbour which is just 40mins’ east from Falmouth.
Explore further around the peninsula and you’ll find lots of small beachside parks and seaside villages. The northeast tip, especially, is really beautiful with plenty of pine forests and sand dunes making up the majority of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
