Local Area
Nashville is the state capital of Tennessee and situated on the Cumberland River. It’s famed for its musical heritage with the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium just a couple of the iconic live music venues you’ll find here. Country music, in particular, has played a huge part in forging the city that you’ll find today.
The Civil Rights movement, too, also provides an incredibly important piece of the past. Visit the Civil Rights Room in the public library and the National Museum of African American Music to find out more.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for a Country music history tour, make your way to Music Row in Midtown. This is where you’ll find the radio stations and record label offices where Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley first broke through. You’ll also find the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Johnny Cash Museum, just off Broadway.
Finally, if you’re looking for a night on the town, head to Printers Alley – live music reverberates around downtown Nashville, all you have to do is keep your ears open and your toes tapping.
