Hotel Viking
Hand-Picked Hotel
One of the Historic Hotels of America with an outstanding hilltop location in central Newport.
The Viking Hotel has been providing guests with a warm welcome for just over a century. It’s an iconic part of Newport’s sailing scene sitting proudly between the Historic Hill houses and mansions on Bellevue Avenue.
Step inside and you’ll discover a modern twist on the hotel’s historic heritage. Guest rooms and suites are extremely elegant with plenty of plush silks and fabrics presenting a luxurious, yet cosy, retreat.
After settling in you’ll discover the One Bellevue Restaurant offering everything from breakfast and evening meals to lunches and afternoon tea or cocktails. Alternatively, if you’re on the go, pop into the Hill Market for fresh pastries, sandwiches, and a mug of the Viking Hotel’s very own La Colombe Coffee.
If you’re in the mood for a stroll, you’ll discover the whole of Newport on your doorstep. However, if an afternoon of pampering is in order, slip into something more comfortable as you check out the pool, Jacuzzi, and infrared sauna at Spa Fjör.
From enjoying the orange glow of sundown from the Top of Newport rooftop bar to cosying up around an open fire pit down in the courtyard – if it’s a warm welcome in Rhode Island you’re after.

Local Area
Rhode Island is the smallest of all the US states but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in maritime and colonial history. Situated on America’s northeast coast, sandwiched between Connecticut and Massachusetts, this is where marble mansions and Golden Age architecture offer a glimpse at New England’s Georgian heritage.
Take a trip to the seaside and you’ll discover yacht-filled marinas and pebbled beaches looking out over the Atlantic. The coastal city of Newport, especially, has a deep knotted seafaring heritage as well as playing host to the annual America’s Cup regatta. Newport is also home to the Breakers mansion which stretches down to an iconic cliff walkway.
Further inland, the state capital, Providence, provides plenty of day trip options including campus tours around the hallowed halls of Brown University. So, although Rhode Island may be small, it’s right up there when it comes to touring New England’s highlights.
